Charlize (Amber)'s story
Charlize (aka Amber) is a Dachshund Chihuahua mix that was rescued from the Animal Foundation. She went to the shelter as a stray.
She has really progressed since she has been in her foster home. When she was rescued, she did not trust humans at all, but now she is friendly to new people entering her foster home. Her confidence has grown and she isn't as possessive of her food/bones. She has started playing with a puppy in her foster home and is now puppy pad and doggie door trained. Due to the heat, she hasn't had a lot of leash work, so she needs work with that. She can be territorial over other dogs coming on the bed or near a cookie she hides in the couch.
She is sensitive on one part of her back and will grab your hand in her mouth when you try to touch it, but she doesn't bite down. Her foster is working on desensitizing that spot. She has never hurt a cat, but she does fixate on them and will climb furniture to get to them.
She is a sweet girl who can really jump! She has been known to hang from the kitchen counter to see what's going on! She's also a beautiful brown color.
She would be best in a home with older children (teens) and with an owner who knows how to work with chihuahua. She needs a patient home that can continue to work with her.
